The Narrative
Long Island trio The Narrative are a pretty multi faced band. When they try geek rawk (on 'The moment it stops' for example) its sounds to samey and flat. Its support-band-trying-to-sound-stadium and falls flat on its black denimed arse.
However, when they slow down and get a little more reflective, things start to happen. 'Waiting room' is a real heart pulling ballad that somehow fuses Belle and Sebastian and Fleetwood Mac. Pick of the bunch by about 18 miles is 'the photographers daughter' a shimmery, soundtracky little piece of dream pop heaven, with a cracking chorus.
Someone somewhere is pushing this band too hard. Its when they relax is where they really shine. 'indie emo-pop'? No thanks.
